It is great to see MIAA athletes competing and winning on the next level. Indian Creek School graduate Evan Selmer has made an immediate impact at the next level.
Selmer, a 6’2 right-handed pitcher, committed to UMBC in the fall of 2020. His arsenal features a low-90s fastball, curveball, slider, and changeup. In his senior [2021] season, he anchored the Indian Creek staff.
He was one of three MIAA All-Conference selectees, along with Alex Seidleck and Nicholas Pratt. After the season, he was one of the Maryland baseball players selected to the Brooks Robinson All-State Game.
During his reign with UMBC, Selmer has excelled as a pitcher. Head coach Liam Bowen clearly trusts him. As of May 2022, Selmer was tied for third in appearances on the team. This is a big deal for a freshman.
As a reward for his strong performances, Selmer was awarded a start. And #43 delivered. Selmer posted six strikeouts on one hit and two walks in four innings.
